Decreased vaginal sensation, unpleasant or painful sex, discomfort during exercise or even just while sitting; some patients describe it feeling like there’s sandpaper in the vagina
Estrogen supports the layers in the walls of the vagina, keeping it thick and elastic and the lining ridged and lubricated. Once estrogen levels drop, the tissues become thinner and less elastic. The lining becomes pale, smooth and dry. All women experience vaginal changes, and about half are symptomatic and may notice increased discomfort or decreased sensation due to these changes.
